Early Signing Day is now here and most of the Ohio State football team’s 2025 recruiting class has signed. A lot of the players who have signed have been committed to the program for a while now. After losing another game to Michigan on Saturday, people were wondering what the effect would be on the recruiting class this year.

So far, it looks like there wasn’t much of an effect. The Buckeyes have had just one recruit flip elsewhere. That was five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, who flipped from Ohio State to Oregon. Offord had been rumored to have been flipping for the last few weeks. First, it was to Auburn. Obviously, he decided that Oregon was the best place to flip.

The Ohio State football loss to Michigan doesn’t affect the recruiting class

Surprisingly, the fourth straight loss to Michigan doesn’t seem to have affected the Buckeyes as much as expected. They have a couple of guys who they expected to lose in this class, including Offord. TJ Alford is another guy who is expected to flip. While he hasn’t officially done that yet, he was expected to do so prior to the Michigan game.

In fact, the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to flip a recruit of their own. They flipped Anthony Rogers from Alabama. Rogers is a four-star running back that gives Ohio State more depth at a position of need. There’s still a shot they can flip David Sanders Jr. from Tennessee as well after he decided not to sign on Wednesday.

Surprisingly, the Buckeyes have closed out the recruiting class fairly well despite a disastrous loss on Saturday afternoon. The work they did throughout the year has allowed them to weather the storm of a terrible loss against their rival again. Keeping the class intact is important, even if there ends up being a change in coaching after the College Football Playoff.
