The Ohio State football team was looking to add some talent to the offensive line after last year. Everyone saw what happened in the last two games up front and there needed to be a change. The Buckeyes got former Alabama center Seth McLaughlin to join the team. He wasn’t the only Alabama offensive lineman the Buckeyes wanted to grab from the portal.

Ohio State was also hoping to get Kadyn Proctor, a tackle who entered the portal right after Nick Saban retired. Proctor was named SEC All-Freshman and stands at 6’7 and 360 pounds. He’s a big boy who can move well, which is why Ohio State wanted him. He ended up transferring to Iowa instead. It now seems he’s transferring yet again.

Proctor, who was only at Iowa for a few weeks, has now decided to go back to Alabama. He is expected to enter the portal, although the portal doesn’t open for another three weeks. He’s not even taking visits to other schools. It’s a strange turn of events considering he got Iowa in trouble for his recruitment to the Hawkeyes.

Iowa got in trouble for tampering with Proctor before he got into the portal, although no punishment will come from it after the court ruling striking down any rules regarding the transfer portal. It’s just strange to see him go home to Iowa and then immediately want to leave again. I wonder what happened in such a short time in Iowa City?

I doubt we’ll ever get the full story. It seems Ohio State dodged a bullet though. Had they actually been able to bring him to Columbus, it looks like he would have left them high and dry too. It’s better to keep the offensive line as it is now than to deal with something like that.

Ohio State’s offensive line is still going through positional battles, but it looks like they are done grabbing people from the transfer portal up front. We’ll find out at the end of Spring practice who emerges as the early leader to start at right guard and center.
