The Ohio State basketball program is working on its recruiting class for 2025. As of right now, they don’t have any commitments for that season. They do have a five-star guard already committed for the 2026 class, which is great. That could change on Monday depending on what one four-star guard decides to do.

Dorian Jones, a four-star guard from Cleveland, will make his decision on Monday. He has Ohio State as one of his final schools. Jones is choosing between the Buckeyes, Michigan, Rutgers, and Missouri. Ohio State has been on Jones much earlier than these other schools, having offered him back in 2022 when Chris Holtmann was still the coach.

The Ohio State basketball team could get a four-star guard

Rutgers offered Jones back in April. Both Michigan and Missouri just offered him last weekend. With the Ohio State football program having been recruiting him for a couple of years now, you would have to think that they are the favorites to land him. He’s an in-state kid, so it would be really nice to be able to grab him.

With Jake Diebler taking over as the head coach, this is likely to be a very guard-centric offense. They are going to need guys who can handle the ball and who can shoot it from distance. Jones is able to do both of those things well. Standing at 6’4, he has pretty good size for a shooting guard. That helps him on defense as well.

Landing Jones would be a great start to the 2025 recruiting class. It might not be that full of a class, but that won’t be decided for a while. With how much player movement there is in college basketball now, coaches have to be flexible with their recruiting classes. I expect Diebler to be the same with his first recruiting class as a head coach.
