The Ohio State basketball team has done a good job of remaking their roster since the season ended. They’ve used the transfer portal to bring in a couple of new starters into the fold. Jake Diebler has navigated the portal pretty well for a first-time head coach. This roster is good enough to make the NCAA Tournament this season.
While the Buckeyes have some new guards, they were still hoping their old ones would continue to develop. Bruce Thornton is still the best player on the team. They were also hoping to get some help from the bench this season. Unfortunately, they have already lost a guard for the entire season after suffering an injury in a workout.
Ohio State basketball player will miss the season after having surgery
Taison Chatman will miss the entire 2024-25 season after suffering a knee injury during a workout. He had surgery to address the issue. He apparently tore his ACL and will miss the entire year. This comes after Chatman had injuries as a freshman that prevented him from getting into the rotation under Chris Holtmann.
This is a huge blow for Chatman. He was really looking forward to being healthy and actually helping the Buckeyes win more games. Unfortunately, he’s going to have to wait an entire year to do that. With the way college basketball works now, Chatman might get passed up on the depth chart and might not play again for the Ohio State basketball team.
We wish him nothing but the best in his recovery. Hopefully, he’s able to return even stronger than he was before the injury and can actually give the Buckeyes some good minutes. When he came out of high school, he was a four-star recruit. He was thought to be able to make an immediate impact.
Injuries have taken their toll. Hopefully, Chatman doesn’t lose his spirit.
