The Ohio State basketball program has been contacting a lot of guards from the transfer porta to try and build some depth. They need guys who can come off the bench and deliver in big moments. The Buckeyes were a team that didn’t get a ton of production from their bench last season until Jake Diebler started playing more guys.
Playing more guys means more opportunities for the guys who are on the bench. Ohio State needs guys who can make threes off the bench too. More than that, they need guys with length who can defend. Ohio State’s perimeter defense was horrible for most of last year. They just landed a guy from the transfer portal who should help them with just that.
Ohio State basketball team lands Micah Parrish from San Diego State
Micah Parrish, a guard from San Diego State, has decided to transfer to the Ohio State basketball program. Parrish averaged 9.3 points per game for the Aztecs a year ago and played for a national championship with them in the 2022-23 season. The reason why he is a big get is because of his length on the perimeter.
Parrish stands at 6’6 and 195 pounds. He’s a guy who can attack three-point shooters with his rangy arms and make them struggle from the perimeter. He won’t start because he can’t really shoot. Parrish shot just 39% from the field a year ago. But the Buckeyes need someone who can come off the bench and just create havoc on defense.
Once he gets to Columbus, that’s exactly what Parrish is going to do. He’s going to make it hard for opposing guards to score. Now the Buckeyes just need someone who can come off the bench and make threes. They still aren’t done with the transfer portal yet. They have some irons in the fire to get some guys like that.
This is a solid guy to grab after grabbing Aaron Bradshaw from Kentucky. Jake Diebler continues to make moves.
