The Ohio State basketball team is looking to start building its 2025 recruiting class. So far, they don’t have any recruits for that class. Recruiting for that class will ramp up later this year, but Ohio State is starting to host some recruits on visits. That’s what they are doing this weekend with a four-star guard.

Ohio State is hosting four-star guard Dorian Jones for a visit. Jones is 6’4 and 160 pounds, so he’s a bit skinny. He’ll put on weight and will get stronger once he gets into college. Jones is from Cleveland, so the Buckeyes have an advantage with him being an in-state prospect. Ohio State does well recruiting in the Cleveland area.

Jones has offers from a dozen schools so he has plenty of options. The goal for Jake Diebler this weekend is to not get a commitment before he leaves Columbus. It’s to make him put Ohio State at the top of his list and want to come back for another visit later. At that point, a commitment would be much more likely.

Diebler knows how important good guard play is. He is looking to make sure that the Buckeyes have a stable of guards that they can rotate. Also, rosters in college basketball change every single year. Who knows who is going to be back next year? The transfer portal has changed a lot of things in this sport, so you have to have a diverse roster every single year.

Jones is a really good player. He has a good handle and is a solid passer. Three-point shooting is pretty solid with him as well, something Ohio State has struggled with in the last few seasons. Diebler clearly is making an effort to fix that problem. He wants his team to be able to score at all three levels of the court.

Hopefully, Jones will have a good visit this weekend.
