The Ohio State football team has had one of the best weapons in the country for the last three years. Marvin Harrison Jr. was the best receiver in college football last season bar none. I thought he was the best receiver in 2022 too. Now, he’s regarded as one of the best receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft and will be a top-three pick.
This week is the NFL Combine where prospects who are invited work out and answer questions in front of scouts. Most of them are looking to get a bump in their draft stock with their workouts. Elite prospects like Harrison Jr. have nothing to gain from working out, so most of them opt to sit out that portion of the Combine.
Former Ohio State football player Marvin Harrison Jr. won’t work out at NFL Combine
That’s exactly what Harrison Jr. has decided to do. While he will be there this week to answer questions from teams and do the interview portion of the Combine, he won’t be working out on the field. If you look at the tape Harrison Jr. has provided, that makes a lot of sense. He’s a one-man wrecking crew on the outside.
Whoever takes Harrison Jr. is getting a once-in-a-generation type of prospect. He’s big, fast, fluid in and out of breaks, and has excellent hands. You can just throw him the ball and he’ll go and get it. There’s a reason he’s going to be the first non-quarterback taken in this year’s Draft. It’s just a matter of if a team is going to trade up to get him.
Harrison Jr. is probably going to be the only one of the many Ohio State Buckeyes who are drafted to go in the first round. That’s okay though. He’s as good as it gets. The Buckeyes are certainly going to miss his presence next season when he’s collecting checks with the Cardinals or some other NFL team.
The Combine will be going on this week in Indianapolis. We’ll keep you updated on how all of the Buckeyes do.
