The Ohio State football program will have plenty of great players on the defensive side of the ball this season. Not only do they have great players in what might be the best secondary in the country, but up front on the defensive line too. It’s part of the reason why they are the second-ranked team in the country in both polls.

One of the great members of the defensive line is J.T. Tuimoloau. He is one of the players who is most important with this team. The defensive end has the talent to singlehandedly wreck a game as he did in the Penn State game in 2022. Tuimoloau has been named to a prestigious award that is very specific to him.

Tuimoloau has been named to the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year watchlist. There are 96 different players on this list and Tuimoloau definitely has a shot to win this one. That’s especially true if the Buckeyes end up winning a national championship this year. It could end up being more of a team award more than anything.

Of course, J.T. still has to perform at a high level. When he’s on his game, he is the most dominant force that the Buckeyes have on the defensive side of the ball. They don’t have a game-wrecker like him anywhere else. If he played every game like that Penn State game, he would be in the conversation to be the number-one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Tuimoloau is ready for a big season. He wants to win a Big Ten title, beat Michigan, and win a national title. Being a first-round pick is secondary to those goals. That would be nice for him to also have, but the team things are what he’s looking for more than anything.
