The Ohio State football team is going to lose a number of players following the Spring Game this weekend. That’s just the nature of the transfer portal. There will be guys that want to go somewhere else so they can have more playing time. You can’t blame them for doing so either. They have to do what’s best for them.
One Buckeye has already decided to do that. Dallan Hayden will enter the portal when it opens on Monday. Ohio State football fans can blame Tony Alford for that. He never got the playing time he deserved. Another Buckeye is rumored to be entering the portal once it opens after this weekend as well.
The Ohio State football team might lose a QB to the transfer portal
There are rumors floating around that Lincoln Kienholz might be entering the portal following the Spring Game. Kienholz has only gotten significant playing time in one game and it was the Cotton Bowl last year. He did not perform well in that game, finishing just 6/17 for 86 yards. The offensive line didn’t do him any favors though.
It would not be a surprise if Kienholz ended up going somewhere else. He’s very low on the quarterback depth chart and will likely never start for the Ohio State football team. He should go somewhere now while he’s still young so he can find a spot to start. Kienholz is still a good player. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school for a reason.
Kienholz was never thought of as a guy who could potentially start for the Buckeyes, even when he was recruited. He was a late add to the 2023 recruiting class because the Buckeyes needed a quarterback for that class. He is good enough to start at another Power 4 program once he gets some reps.
We’ll see if Kienholz does decide to enter the portal. If he does, he won’t be the last Ohio State football player to do so.
