Ohio State football program being more picky with recruits

The Ohio State football program has the best recruiting class in the country. It’s starting to fill up, so they can be more picky.

The Ohio State football program has the best recruiting class in the country. No one has more five-star recruits in the 2025 recruiting class than the Buckeyes. They now have 22 recruits committed in the class and space is starting to run out. Because of that, it hasn’t been a big deal that they have lost out on some recruits in the last week.

While it would have been nice to land a five-star receiver and a four-star defensive lineman, it’s okay for them still. Because they have so many recruits already committed, they can afford to be more choosey with who they pursue. They might only add a handful more recruits to this class. They are hoping those recruits are five-star recruits.

The Ohio State football team can be more selective in their recruiting

Ohio State is still hoping they can get five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr. and five-star receiver Jaime Ffrench. Those are the two biggest fish left for the Buckeyes. Anyone else that they grab around those two guys is gravy to what is already a great recruiting class. Bringing those two players into the fold would make it an all-time class.

There is no indication of when Sanders Jr. is going to make his commitment. Ffrench won’t make his decision until the end of August. That leaves a lot of time for the Buckeyes to possibly add some more prospects. This is actually a fairly well-rounded class compared to what they brought in last year. The 2024 class had some holes that the 2025 class needed to fill.

The Ohio State football team is good enough to deal with holes in one class, but back-to-back seasons with holes at the same position are enough to de-rail any program. That’s why they’ve focused on adding as many defensive linemen as they have this class.
