The Ohio State football team has been doing a phenomenal job of landing recruits in the last couple of weeks. Recruits have been committing in high numbers. Suddenly, the class of 2025 is at 22 recruits. That’s already a full class for some programs out there. The Buckeyes aren’t done though and just landed another recruit on Monday.
On Monday afternoon, the Buckeyes got the 22nd member of the recruiting class. They got four-star defensive lineman Maxwell Roy. Roy is a defensive tackle recruit from Philadelphia. He was choosing between a final three of Ohio State, Rutgers, and Michigan. In the end, he thought that the Ohio State football program was the best place for him.
The Ohio State football program gets a four-star defensive tackle recruit
Roy is now the fifth defensive lineman to commit to the Buckeyes in this cycle. That’s a good thing because they did not take that many defensive linemen in last year’s recruiting class. This class will help them build up the depth that they are used to in Columbus. Roy is one of the guys who is going to help them do that.
Roy is a powerful defensive lineman who has good size. He stands at 6’3 and 285 pounds so he’s an ideal defensive tackle with a four-man front. Not only does he have the size necessary, but the speed is also there. He does a great job of closing in on the quarterback when he gets into the backfield. Roy doesn’t let them escape very often.
We’re not sure how many recruits the Buckeyes will ultimately take in this cycle. At this point, that doesn’t matter. They have the best recruiting class in the country and they show no signs of slowing down. From this point forward, it will only continue to get better. July should see at least five more recruits commit too.
