The Ohio State football team is hosting a very big offensive line recruit on campus next month. David Sanders Jr. is the highest-rated offensive line recruit that the Buckeyes have a chance to land in the 2025 recruiting class. The class is shaping up to be quite good and it would be even better if they landed Sanders.
We know that the Buckeyes are lean on the offensive line. They haven’t recruited particularly well in that area for a while. In fact, current offensive line coach Justin Frye has never landed a five-start recruit since he’s been the coach at Ohio State. Quite frankly, it’s surprising he wasn’t let go in the offseason.
Landing David Sanders Jr. would be a big boost for the Ohio State football program
That’s exactly what Frye is hoping to avoid. Landing Sanders Jr. would allow him to put something on his recruiting resume. The hope is that Chip Kelly can get the most out of him now that he’s working with Frye again. It remains to be see if he can pull something out of him as he did at UCLA. If he can’t, Frye is gone.
Sanders Jr. is an elite offensive lineman who would come in and fight for a starting position immediately if he were to choose Ohio State. It’s going to be a tall task to get him to Columbus though. He’s projected to head to Clemson, his in-state school. That’s what this visit is about.
Ryan Day is hoping that his staff can convince him that the Ohio State football program is the place for him. The Buckeyes need that solid tackle that they have been without for the last couple of years. It’d be nice to have a player as strong as Sanders Jr.
We’ll see if a visit can sway him to Columbus.
