The Ohio State football team lost to Oregon on Saturday night. Oregon is a very good team, and losing by just one point is nothing to be ashamed of. They are a good team that has a great chance to play for a Big Ten Championship. The Buckeyes have some things to figure out though, and Ryan Day has the fanbase very mad at him.

This loss is another example of Day getting out-coached in a close game. He was fooled by Dan Lanning at the end of the game when Lanning exploited a loophole with 12 men on the field. Day just doesn’t have the things other coaches have. He’s starting to frustrate Ohio State football fans all across the country.

The Ohio State football team’s close loss has fans mad at Ryan Day again

It’s hard to pick out a lot of big wins that Day has had over the years. In the last two years, he’s beaten Notre Dame. That’s about it. He’s also lost to Michigan in each of those seasons and then lost to Georgia in the CFP. Now, he’s lost to Oregon. The losses for him really have started to pile up and frustrate the fanbase.

Ohio State has to take on Penn State in a few weeks. If the Buckeyes lose that one too, the calls to fire Day will be deafening. If Day does the unthinkable and loses to a crappy Michigan team at the end of the year, then the calls may become reality. Day might actually get canned and Ohio State could be looking for a new job.

Day has time to turn it around. A one-point loss in a night game on the road probably shouldn’t get the fanbase so riled up. If he beats the Nittany Lions and the Wolverines, his job is safe for sure. Winning a national championship is the only sure-fire way to get back into the good graces of this Ohio State football fanbase.
