The Ohio State football team hasn’t been able to beat Michigan since 2019. It has been a long five years in that time span. Ryan Day owns just a 1-3 record against TTUN. The 2020 game was canceled for COVID reasons. But because it has been that long since the Buckeyes have won The Game, the seniors do not have a pair of gold pants.
Gold pants are given to the Ohio State football team for beating Michigan. That hasn’t happened for any of these seniors because they don’t have that victory yet. Quite frankly, this senior class will be looked at as a failure if they go through their entire collegiate experience without having beaten TTUN a single time. This weekend can change that.
The Ohio State football seniors have a chance to change their legacy
This weekend is a chance for the Buckeyes to change their entire identity. For most of the last three years, the Buckeyes have been known as a pretty good team that can’t get over the hump. That’s been something the seniors have had to listen to for a very long time. A win on Saturday afternoon ends that discourse and gives something fans to remember these guys by.
It’s not going to be easy. Despite the fact that the Ohio State Buckeyes are the #2 team in the country and Michigan is just 6-5, this game has a strange history. Both sides have seen major upsets happen against them. The Buckeyes have to stay focused and can’t underestimate this Michigan team. That task lies with the seniors.
Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Cody Simon, Emkea Egbuka, and TreVeyon Henderson are the leaders of this team. They have been through the losses. It’s up to them to turn the tide and make the Buckeyes winners again. The only thing stopping them is a mental block. It’s clear they are the better team on the field. Now, it’s time to prove it.
