The Ohio State football team proves they can play with anyone

The Ohio State football team showed on Saturday that their offense is good enough to keep them in a game with anyone they play.

The Ohio State football team was expected to have one of the best defenses in the country and an above-average offense. So far this season, those roles have flipped. It’s the offense that is one of the best. While the defense has been good, it has been far from elite. That was once again the case against Michigan State on Saturday.

Ohio State was able to down the Spartans 38-7 thanks to an offense that was tough to stop. Will Howard had 244 passing yards and two touchdowns and also ran it for a score. The running backs ran it for 185 yards. When you have an offense that can break a big play at any time and one that can drive methodically, that’s tough to stop.

With an offense this good, the defense might only need to be pretty solid. Howard has been doing a great job getting the ball out of his hands to his playmakers. No playmaker has been as exciting this season as Jeremiah Smith. The freaky freshman has scored a touchdown in every game this season and now has six total scores.

Jim Knowles is going to work hard to fix the problems that they have on defense. They aren’t massive or anything, but against the wrong team, it could cost them a game. They allow too many yards to be gained against them, especially on the ground. It doesn’t seem like they attack downhill often enough. The safeties seem to be playing too deep.

Once Knowles is able to fix that, the Buckeyes could end up being the best team in the country. We’re going to learn a lot about them in the next two games against Iowa and Oregon. Those are going to be huge tests for these Ohio State Buckeyes.
