The Ohio State football team had its first practice of Fall camp on Thursday. It’s the first time that these guys have been all together on the field for a few months. It’s also the first time that some of the true freshmen are on the field. Not all of them enrolled early in the Spring. The one freshman who did look good was there in the Spring.

That freshman is Jeremiah Smith. Smith was one of the Ohio State Buckeyes who looked good. There were quite a few of them who looked good in the first practice. Smith was the freshman who looked the best. The Buckeyes had a few other guys who looked good on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

These are the players who stood out for the Ohio State football team

Carnell Tate was one of the other players who Ryan Day singled out as having a good first day of camp. He looked good in Spring as well. Day singled him out for having a good offseason. Those two receivers are going to be a big part of the Ohio State Buckeyes this season. There were a couple of guys who looked good on defense too.

Sonny Styles was one of those players. He has moved to linebacker now that Caleb Downs has been brought into the fold. With Downs manning the safety position, Styles was moved to linebacker this offseason. Styles is going to help the running game a lot with his physicality. He looked good at linebacker in his first Fall practice with it.

Josh Fryar continues to get praise as well. His offseason saw him hit the gym hard and get stronger. He needed to do that after the season he had last year in his first year as a starter. He’ll be the starter at right tackle again. Fryar could perhaps be the most improved player on the offense this year.

Ryan is an Ohio State graduate and has been writing for various publications for the past seven years. His work has been featured on FanSided, Apple News, Yahoo, Bleacher Report, and more. He has been covering Ohio State exclusively for four years.
