Will an Ohio State football player or Michigan player get drafted first?

The NFL Draft is just a few weeks away. It will be at the end of this month. The Ohio State football program normally has a boatload of first-round prospects for the Draft. This year, they have just one. That’s Marvin Harrison Jr. He is the best receiver in this class and should be the first non-QB taken if teams are smart.

Meanwhile, TTUN has a first-round prospect of its own. Somehow, J.J. McCarthy is projected to be a first-round pick. This is despite stats that don’t pop off the page, although he does have a myriad of impressive victories. His stock has been surprisingly rising over the past couple of months to the point where he could be the fourth QB off the board.

Will Ohio State football player Marvin Harrison Jr. be drafted before J.J. McCarthy?

I’ve seen mock drafts that have McCarthy being taken as high as fourth now because a team has traded up to get him. We know that it’s a quarterback-driven lead, but taking a chance on him at four seems crazy to me. Yet, it’s definitely a possibility. So who will get drafted first, McCarthy or Harrison Jr.?

I still think it will be Harrison Jr. He’s the most pro-ready receiver in the class and I still think he can get better. He’s a lot faster than people think. Perhaps he should have shown that by doing any sort of pre-draft workout, but he didn’t. In either case, he’s still too good for a team to pass up on him by trading down.

McCarthy is just fine as a prospect in my eyes. I think someone drafting him in the top ten would be a mistake. I’m not an NFL GM though. McCarthy should be a decent quarterback at the next level, but he’s not a franchise-changing guy. Harrison Jr. is. He instantly makes any receiver room better.

We’ll find out at the end of the month who gets taken higher.
