The Ohio State football team normally has great skill players. With the way that Brian Hartline has been recruiting the wide receivers, he has a room full of guys who are ready to play right now. While the Buckeyes don’t have much experience there behind Emeka Egbuka, the receiver room is still a quarterback’s dream.

Will Howard is the presumptive starter for the Buckeyes. He has taken most of the first-team reps at quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes and transferred in to be the starter. This is his last year of collegiate eligibility, so he knows that he has to make the most of his time in Columbus. He also knows that he doesn’t have to be a hero.

The Ohio State football team needs solid play from Will Howard

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Howard mentioned that he knows that doesn’t need to be a hero in this offense. With so many great players around him, his job is to just get the ball to them and get out of the way. Of course, Howard will be used in the run game as well, so his contributions will go past throwing the ball around. Howard should be a multi-skill weapon for Ohio State.

Howard actually tested as the fastest quarterback on the roster this offseason. While all of the QBs ran over 20 mph, Howard was the fastest of them. He was clocked at 22 mph when he was sprinting. For a man who is 6’4 and 235 pounds, that’s some serious speed. That’s why Chip Kelly wants to get him involved in the run game.

Howard knows that his job is to not turn the ball over. Turnovers will kill this offense. His ceiling should make the Buckeye offense a bit more dangerous than it was last year under Kyle McCord. Howard knows his place in the offense, and that’s a good thing.
