Did Pro Day help any Ohio State football draftees?

The Ohio State football program held its Pro Day earlier this week. While Marvin Harrison Jr. didn’t work out, just as he didn’t at the Combine, all of the other Buckeyes in the Draft did. They were all trying to show scouts that they are worthy of being a higher Draft pick than originally thought. Some were trying to improve on what they did at the Combine too.

Cade Stover was one of those guys. He did all of the testing stuff at the Combine and didn’t think he needed to do it again. Instead, all he did was catch some balls from Will Howard to show off his hands. He also caught balls in Indy but wanted scouts to get another look. Did any other Buckeyes boost their stock?

Pro Day helped a few Ohio State football players.

Mike Hall is one of the guys that Pro Day helped. He didn’t do much at the Combine because he was nursing an injury. He saved the bulk of his workouts for Pro Day and it should pay off. Hall put up 25 reps on the bench press, ran a 4.8 40-yard dash, and did a 9’3 in the broad jump. All of those numbers should help get him drafted a little higher.

Hall could get pushed into the bottom of the second round with those kinds of numbers. His film helps him too, even though his numbers with the Ohio State football team weren’t overwhelming. He just pushes the pocket around on pass plays, which is an extremely valuable skill in today’s NFL.

Steele Chambers looked good, but not any better than he did at the Combine where he really shined. Pro Day didn’t make or break many Buckeyes’ stock. That is a good thing and a bad thing. Marv was the one that everyone wanted to see, but he had nothing to gain from working out. His stock is already set in stone.

The Draft is in about a month. We’ll find out soon enough where these guys land.
