Ohio State basketball fans still hate Michigan. Despite the fact that the rivalry isn’t as potent as it is in football, there is still hate there. Michigan was the worst team in the Big Ten a year ago, winning just eight games during the season. They fired Juwann Howard because of that and hired Dusty May after the Buckeyes passed on him.

Following the end of Ohio State’s season, Roddy Gayle decided to enter the transfer portal. He left once Meechie Johnson decided to come back after two years away. He was seen visiting Michigan over the weekend. It would be the ultimate betrayal if he decided to transfer to Michigan. Well, guess what? He did it.

Gayle has committed to transferring to TTUN. He leaves Ohio State after two seasons and just one as a starter. He shot just 28% from three a year ago and yet will be one of Michigan’s best players. That team still stinks. May would be lucky to get them into the Big Ten Tournament next season. Remember, not all of the Big Ten teams are going to make it next year, just 15 of the 18.

This is the ultimate betrayal for Ohio State basketball fans. Tony Alford did the same thing to the football program. You. can go anywhere you want when you decide to transfer except go there. Gayle is going to get mercilessly booed every time he comes to Columbus. Things are not going to be comfortable for him for the next two seasons.

Gayle has never been to the NCAA Tournament. By transferring to Michigan, he signals that’s something that’s not important to him. I don’t see that program making it in either of the next two seasons. May is a good coach but it’s going to take at least three seasons to get rid of all of the stink surrounding that program.

I hope for Gayle’s sake that he shoots the ball better next year.
