The Combine is a circus. Players show up to work out and try to improve their draft stock by doing drills well. There are seven Ohio State football players who are there to do that exact thing. Their individual meetings with teams are a big deal as well because they will be interviewing with teams who could draft them.

There are eight Buckeyes at the Combine though. The only one who is not working out is Marvin Harrison Jr. He’s in Indy just to meet with teams and do the interview portion of the Combine, nor is he expected to work out at Ohio State’s Pro Day. Harrison Jr. was still expected to meet with the media on Friday though.

Instead, Harrison Jr. decided to not meet with the media. No reason was given. Media members were expected to ask him questions. Perhaps making the decision to not workout at the Combine was going to be the primary discussion and Harrison Jr. didn’t want to have to deal with that. There could be a multitude of reasons.

Will this affect his stock in any real way? No. Ohio State receivers have an excellent track record in the NFL and Harrison Jr. is better than any of the receivers who recently came out too. He’s still going to be the first non-QB taken in the Draft. It just is a bummer for the media and for the fans to not get to hear from him.

I’m sure there will be teams who draft in the middle of the first round who will try to use this against Harrison Jr. in the media to get him to slide closer to them. It’s a tactic that teams use all the time. The same thing happened last year with C.J. Stroud and the S2 test. That clearly didn’t work. It won’t work in Harrison Jr.’s case either.

The Combine workouts continue into the weekend. We’ll let you know if any Ohio State Buckeyes have great numbers in drills that can help their stock.
