The Ohio State football team had Marvin Harrison Jr. as the first Buckeye taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. That was expected. He was clearly the best non-quarterback in the Draft and he was drafted as such. We weren’t sure which former Buckeye was going to be the second player taken in the Draft.

It ended up being Mike Hall. Hall will help the Browns on the defensive line immediately. He was taken in the second round and will be in their rotation of players right away as a rookie. He won’t start, which is fine. The Browns need some help rushing the passer, especially up the middle. Hall is going to help them with that straight away.

Hall is someone who can come in during obvious passing situations and do well. He can use his bull rush to push the pocket back into the quarterback and make him panic. Even if he ends up not getting to the quarterback, they panic and either throw it away or throw a pick. Those are the kinds of players that the Browns need.

Cleveland is a great fit for Hall as well. He won’t be pressured to have a lot of production right away while he learns. He still has some work to go in terms of stopping the run to make him an every-down player. Still, he has the potential to be a starter for the Browns in a couple of years. His motor is extremely high, which is something the Browns also like a lot.

We’ll see how the Browns decide to use Hall in the next couple of seasons as he gets his feet wet in the NFL. He’s a good player and should be good for Cleveland for the next handful of years.
