The Ohio State football program has its Spring Game on Saturday. Soon after, the transfer portal will open. A bunch of players will enter the portal once it opens on Monday. One particular Ohio State football player was rumored to be entering the portal once it opens to avoid a crowded depth chart.

That player is quarterback Lincoln Kienholz. He had been linked to Iowa as a potential landing spot. Kienholz is in a very crowded room. He is one of five different quarterbacks who are fighting for playing time right now. Despite this, it seems that Kienholz has dispelled any rumors of his transfer with a single tweet.

Taking to social media after seeing the rumors, Kienholz sent a simple message to Ohio State football fans.

A simple, but effective, way to dispel rumors of his transfer. I find this interesting though because I actually think he’s a very good candidate to enter the portal. Looking ahead at this season and 2025, Kienholz is projected to be at the bottom of the depth chart. Why would he stay if that ends up being the case?

It would make sense for Kienholz to move on and actually battle for a starting quarterback position. He is someone who could start at a lot of other programs that aren’t Ohio State. There’s just too much competition in the room right now. There are also some younger guys who are more highly touted than him who could end up jumping him in the hierarchy.

Right now, it seems like Kienholz is staying. We’ll see what happens once the Spring Game is upon us. Perhaps he and Ryan Day have a conversation about his future and then he realizes that it might be best for him if he looks for another program. It’s just not sustainable to have that many quarterbacks in the room.
