The Ohio State football program had a lot of recruits out for their open practice on Saturday. It was Student Appreciation Day so all of the students got to come out and see the team practice for free. A lot of recruits were also on hand for the practice and that experience clearly left a good impression on a lot of them.

After the weekend was over, the Buckeyes ended up getting four recruits to commit. All of them were at practice and clearly liked being surrounded by the Buckeyes who were there. All three commits were for the 2025 recruiting class as well. Ryan Day is doing a good job early in the cycle identifying the talent they want to land.

Ohio State landed recruits at all different positions over the weekend. They were able to get four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford. The linebacker from Florida committed on Saturday and picked the Buckeyes over a host of other schools, including Miami, Florida State, Tennessee, and others. He wasn’t the only commit the Bucks got.

London Merritt committed to the Buckeyes on Friday. The four-star defensive end is someone that the Buckeyes really wanted to get because they can finally build some depth on the defensive line. That’s something they have missed out on in the last few recruiting classes. That changed by landing Merritt.

De’Zie Jones became the first receiver to join the class after losing a commitment from that position last week. He is from New Jersey and is a four-star recruit. He should add even more depth to the room that has the most talent of any receiver room in the country.

DeShawn Stewart became the fourth recruit to commit to the Buckeyes over the weekend when he did so on Sunday. He becomes the first safety that the Buckeyes have in a class that is loaded with members of the secondary. They have three cornerbacks in the class already and now have a safety too. He is a four-star recruit.

This is the best recruiting weekend of the year so far for the Ohio State football team. They are nowhere near done though.
