The Ohio State football program is known for recruiting the best receivers in all of college football. They land some of the best prospects at that position year in and year out. Just this past cycle, they landed the number-one player overall in the 2024 recruiting class, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Smith joins Marvin Harrison Jr., Garrett Wilson, Brandon Inniss, and countless other highly-ranked recruits to choose the Buckeyes. Brian Hartline is the best recruiter in America as the Buckeyes’ Wide Receivers coach. It looks like he’s about to land another highly-touted prospect at the receiver position too.

Ohio State football team predicted to land top 2025 wide receiver

According to 247Sports, the Buckeyes are predicted to land five-star receiver Jamie Ffrench. Ffrench is out of Jacksonville, Florida, and is the third-best receiver in the country. The Buckeyes are projected to land Ffrench over Alabama. It’s always nice to be able to steal a recruit from Bama, even if Nick Saban is now gone.

Ffrench stands at 6’1 and 185 pounds. He’s very smooth with his routes and is able to get separation because of that. He’s not a burner, but he uses his body well to get himself in position to make the catch. Ffrench also has excellent hands and rarely drops the ball. If you add in Hartline’s coaching, he could be a really good receiver if he plays for Ohio State.

There isn’t an indication of when Ffrench might make his decision, but the Buckeyes are clearly the favorites. Hartline is the most valuable recruiter on staff and Ryan Day needs to keep him in Columbus at all costs. If Ffrench does choose Ohio State, the 2025 class shapes up to be the best in the Day era. It’s still early, but the early work is impressive.

Of course, nothing is ever settled until a player signs his NLI. A lot can change between now and then in today’s landscape of NIL money, especially now that there are no rules.
