The Ohio State football program was caught off guard when Tony Alford decided to head to Michigan. It’s not that they were that disappointed considering he almost got fired in the offseason. It was just surprising that he decided to leave in the middle of Spring practice and go to the one place that Ohio State hates the most.

With Alford gone, the Buckeyes hired Carlos Locklyn as his replacement. He is the new running backs coach and has done a great job so far. In fact, he landed a four-star running back from the Cleveland area just a couple of weeks ago. Now, he has landed another four-star running back recruit while Alford continues to sputter.

The Ohio State football team gets second running back commit this month

Isaiah West, a four-star running back from Philadelphia, has committed to the Buckeyes. He joins a running back room that is very young and very talented. He becomes the second running back commit for the 2025 class and the 15th commit in the class overall for Ohio State. West has a lot of potential that hasn’t been realized yet.

West de-committed from Kentucky in the middle of May right after visiting Columbus, so it looked like something was going to happen. That ended up being the case on Sunday. West said he likes what Locklyn is doing with the Buckeyes already and wants to be part of a great team. Ohio State certainly is that.

The Ohio State football program still has the best recruiting class in the country. They still have room for up to ten more kids in this class too. Their lead for a recruiting national championship could end up being insurmountable by the time the summer is over. They have plenty of firepower on offense that they are still chasing too.
