Ohio State football team loses cornerback commit

The Ohio State football team has one of the best recruiting classes in the country. That class got a little worse after a de-commitment.

The Ohio State football team has a really good recruiting class. Part of what makes it so good is the defensive backs from the class. They currently have the two best cornerbacks in the country committed to them. Tim Walton has done an excellent job recruiting cornerbacks, a position that is always needed in the Big Ten.

With the Buckeyes losing two cornerbacks for sure at the end of the year, they will need to replenish that room. Davison Igbinosun could also decide to leave early depending on how well he plays. There are a lot of opportunities open for corners next season. A recruit decided that opportunity wasn’t enough for him.

Ohio State football team has a defensive back de-commit

One of the commits from the 2025 class has decided to de-commit. Blake Woodby, a corner from Baltimore, has decided to de-commit. He is a four-star recruit and has been committed to the Buckeyes since October of last year. His de-commitment leaves the Buckeyes with just 12 commits for the 2025 class so far.

Woodby was the third-best corner in the class for Ohio State. He now decided to go elsewhere. That could be because of his visit to Florida today. Perhaps they came in with a giant NIL deal that swayed him. At any rate, the Buckeyes won’t be seeing him on campus next season. There’s no reason to fret though.

Woodby de-committing opens up the door for the Buckeyes to add even more cornerbacks. They had already been projected to land Dorian Brew, a five-star corner, in this class as well. This could open the door for him to commit sooner now that there is less competition in the room for the future. That would give the Buckeyes three five-star corners.

This is why nothing is certain in recruiting until the player sends in their NLI. Things change so quickly in today’s landscape of college football.
