Today is the last day that football players can enter the transfer portal. The Spring window closes at the end of the day. That means this is the last time that Ohio State football players have a chance to transfer until the end of next season. Some big decisions need to be made today.

We saw the Buckeyes lose a player to the portal yesterday when Ja’Had Carter decided to move on. This is the second time that he has been in the transfer portal in his career. He only played one year for the Buckeyes and didn’t get a lot of playing time. His playing time was only going to be worse this season. Now, another player has decided to move on.

Enokk Vimahi has decided to enter the transfer portal. Vimahi played five seasons with the Buckeyes but could never crack the starting lineup. He just wasn’t quite good enough to firmly establish himself at guard. I can’t blame him for wanting to leave because he wasn’t going to see time this season either.

The question I have is where is he going to end up this late in the process where he will find playing time? It’s the last day the portal is open and he only has one year of eligibility left. Spring practice is over already, so he’d have to win a job in the Fall. In order to do that, his options are likely limited to a G5 program.

I wonder if Vimahi is going to stay close to somewhere in Ohio to just go wherever he thinks playing time is easiest to come by. The Buckeyes do lose a depth piece on the offensive line, which is not ideal. I don’t see them going into the portal to replace him at this point either.

We wish Vimahi all of the best moving forward in his last collegiate season.
