The Ohio State basketball program is still trying to get some players from the transfer portal. They haven’t been able to land anyone from the portal since Micah Parrish, a forward from San Diego State. Unfortunately, they have struck out on a few other prospects from the transfer portal, notably some big men.

Ohio State was hoping to turn that around on Monday afternoon by landing an in-state transfer player. Ra’Heim Moss from Toledo had Ohio State in his final four schools. The guard averaged 15.5 points per game a year ago for the Rockets. Unfortunately, he won’t be wearing a Buckeye uniform next season.

Moss has decided to go elsewhere to continue his college basketball career. As far as the Buckeyes are concerned, this isn’t a huge loss just because of the glut of guards they have on their roster. The Ohio State basketball program still has a lot of guards. In fact, they probably have too much for next season for everyone to see playing time.

The Buckeyes are still looking for a backup center from the portal. They need someone to come in and get minutes behind Aaron Bradshaw. He is the new starter now that Felix Okpara has committed to Tennessee and Zed Key is at Dayton. They need someone who has experience at center.

We still don’t know who that person will be. What we do know is that Jake Diebler has had some problems closing out visits in recent days and time is running out. The portal closes tomorrow so decisions need to be made pretty quickly. Ohio State’s highest priority is getting that center position figured out.

Ohio State has other irons in the fire. We’ll see if they are able to bring in a guy that they can rely on for 10-15 minutes a game.
