The Ohio State football program has the second-best recruiting class in the country. This comes despite the fact that they only had 12 commitments as of Tuesday morning. They still only sat behind Notre Dame for the top spot for the 2025 recruiting class. The Buckeyes got a little closer to that on Tuesday evening.

That’s because the Buckeyes got a commitment from Bo Jackson, a four-star running back from Cleveland. He is the first running back commitment for Ohio State in this class. He chose the Buckeyes over Alabama and Georgia, who were the other two finalists. Ohio State now has 13 commitments for the class after they leveraged a visit to get this commitment.

The Ohio State football team used a visit from this past weekend to secure Jackson’s commitment

Jackson was one of ten Ohio State recruits to visit this past weekend. Once he was done visiting, he immediately picked up a crystal ball prediction for the Buckeyes. That turned out to be the right call because he committed just two days later. It was clear that after heading to campus, this was where he wanted to be.

As far as his play is concerned, Jackson is a really solid back. He has the strength to fun over weak tacklers. He has some speed to run around those tacklers too. Even though the Buckeyes have two freshman running backs this year, Jackson still has a chance to earn playing time in a couple of seasons once Quinshon Judkins moves on to the NFL.

This is the first commitment that the Buckeyes are getting this month, but it won’t be the last. This will be a month full of commitments now that it’s camp season. Ohio State will be present at all of them and they will make big pushes to get the players on their recruiting board.
