The Ohio State women’s basketball team is the second-ranked team in the country. Ohio State lost just twice in the Big Ten, including the last game of the season that didn’t really matter for them. They’d already clinched the Big Ten championship and had nothing to play for. They had a great season and got recognized for it by the media and coaches.

Regular season awards came out on Tuesday before the Big Ten Tournament started. Several Buckeyes were recognized for a great season, including the head coach. Kevin McGuff was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year. It’s hard to argue with how good the Buckeyes played this year and he’s created a great scheme for the team.

Multiple Ohio State women’s basketball players make First-team All-Big Ten

The Buckeyes had multiple representatives on the All-Big Ten team. Jacy Sheldon was one of those players, making First-team All-Big Ten. She led the Buckeyes in points, assists, free-throw percentage, and was second on the team in steals. She’s the engine of the offense as the point guard.

Cotie McMahon was also named First-team All-Big Ten. She led the Buckeyes in rebounds with 6.4 a game and also had 14 points per game. When she is on, no one can stop her, especially when she’s going downhill. She’s one of the key players for this team during March Madness.

Celeste Taylor was Second-team All-Big Ten and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. She led the team in steals with 2.2 steals. She also led the team in blocks with 0.9. Her addition to the team has done wonders for Ohio State’s press. She can shoot 33% from three too so she plays both sides of the ball.

Taylor Thierry was the other All-Big Ten nominee, making Second-team All-Big Ten. She averaged 11.4, 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.8 steals a game. On top of all that, she shot a blistering 62% from the field and 48% from three. She’s a really good player and is a big reason for the Ohio State women’s basketball team’s success.

The Buckeyes will play the winner of the Illinois/Maryland game on Friday at 12:30 pm. If they can win the Big Ten Tournament, they can lock up a number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament, even though they probably already will get one.
