The Ohio State basketball team came into their matchup against Maryland having lost five straight games and eight of their last nine. It looks like the Buckeyes’ season might be over. Nevertheless, the Buckeyes showed on Saturday that they haven’t quit on the year quite yet as they were able to beat the Terps in double overtime 79-75.

It was a win that showed that Chris Holmtann hasn’t totally lost this team yet. Despite the fact that they won’t be making the NCAA Tournament this year unless a miracle happens, they didn’t want to lose to a bad Maryland team at home. It seems they still have a little bit of pride in how this season is going to end.

It might be too little too late for the Ohio State basketball team

Bruce Thornton deserves a ton of credit for what he’s done the past few weeks. He’s the best player on the team and continues to play like it. He had 24 points against the Terps and added 7 rebounds too. All season long, he’s been the only consistent source of offense for this Ohio State basketball team. He continues to play hard, no matter how bad things get.

Thornton is a really good player and I hope he stays in Columbus next year even if the Buckeyes let Chris Holtmann go after a second disastrous season, I hope Thornton doesn’t decide to transfer. He’s the type of player that any program would love to have. He’s going to try to single-handedly take this team on a miracle turn through the Big Ten Tournament.

The problem now for the Buckeyes is they go on the road for their next game. They travel to Wisconsin, although the Badgers have lost four straight games, including one to a terrible Michigan team. Perhaps the Buckeyes can steal one, although I doubt that will be the case.

I give this team a lot of credit for not quitting yet.
