The Ohio State football team has done a very good job on the recruiting trail. They have the best class in the country and have been raking in the recruits over the past couple of weeks. They were hoping to land another defensive lineman on Wednesday. Justin Hill, a defensive lineman from Cincinnati, is someone the Buckeyes have had their eyes on for a while.

Hill had some solid final schools that he was choosing between. Besides the Buckeyes, he was choosing between Alabama and Oregon. Hill is a four-star defensive lineman, so he’s a really solid player. He would have added value to any program that he chose. Unfortunately for Ohio State, he chose to commit to Alabama.

Hill will now play for the Crimson Tide. The fact that Ohio State added a couple of defensive linemen in the last week or so probably didn’t help. Hill would have been the highest-rated recruit of them all had he committed. Still, the Buckeyes already have five defensive line recruits in this class. They don’t necessarily need another one.

Still, losing a player who is from the state of Ohio to an SEC school is never fun. Ryan Day has tried to make it so that the best players in the state of Ohio stay in Ohio. Hill is one that is getting away. Bama is second in the recruiting rankings behind the Ohio State football program. Adding Hill has shortened the gap, but it’s still a big lead for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State has 22 commits for their 2025 recruiting class so it’s already pretty full. They will add a couple of more prospects later this Summer. There are a couple of five-star prospects that they are still hoping to get. This recruiting class is far from being complete. Losing Hill hurts a bit, but it’s certainly not the end of the world.
