One of the things that Ohio State football fans love is Spring practice. It gives hope for a different result in a new year. That’s especially true this year with the team that they will be fielding. The Buckeyes will be one of the favorites to win the Big Ten and the national championship. Fans should be excited about this team.

Spring football also gives us a chance to see who the starters will be. There are a few players who will be stepping into a new starting role who we haven’t seen before. Will Howard is the number-one guy Ohio State football fans want to see. How will he do in Chip Kelly’s offense? That’s something Spring football can tell us.

When does Spring football practice start for the Ohio State football team?

Spring practice will start on March 5th. That’s just a couple of weeks away for the Ohio State Buckeyes. It’s good for them to get to work early and learn the new offense. Kelly’s offense isn’t much different than Ryan Day’s offense. Heck, Day took a lot of his offense from Kelly. But there will be a lot more running of the ball this year than in years past.

I’m interested to see which receiver steps up the most. With Marvin Harrison Jr. off to the NFL, someone is next up to be the third receiver with Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate moving up on the depth chart. Who is going to be? Will it be one of the stud freshmen? Or will Jayden Ballard finally get a shot at real playing time?

One of the other things I’ll be watching is the offensive line. How well will they block in the running game? Will the tackles be any better in the passing game? Fans will be interested to see who starts at right tackle too. Josh Fryar may have lost his job after what he did last season.

Spring practice also means we are getting closer to a meaningful Ohio State football game. This season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons the Buckeyes have had in a while.
