We are still in the throngs of winter in Columbus, Ohio. That doesn’t mean that Ohio State football fans aren’t already thinking about next season. Spring practice is just around the corner. That also means that the Spring Game is too. That game will be the first time that most Buckeye fans will get to see this new team.

The Spring Game is also a big event in Columbus. Usually, there are at least 85,000 people in the stands for the game since tickets are so cheap. They’re typically $10 to sit anywhere you want. Despite the fact that there is usually no tackling, it still gives us an idea of what both sides of the ball will look like for the upcoming year.

When is the Ohio State football Spring Game this year?

This year’s date for the Spring game is Saturday, April 13th. It will start at noon. The weather for the game can be hit or miss. It will either be pretty hot for a game in April, or it could be freezing. You never know about Ohio weather. What you can count on is a bunch of people watching the Buckeyes either in person or on the Big Ten Network.

This year’s game will be especially interesting with Chip Kelly’s arrival. How will he use Will Howard in the running game? How will he use the offensive line to open up holes? Those are questions we could get answers to in that Spring Game. It will also give us our first look at what the depth chart could be heading into the Fall.

It will be interesting to see if Ryan Day switches up the format of the Spring Game at all. Will he change things and let there be some tackling? I would like to see that happen for at least a half, but I understand the injury risk. There are still four months after the game where players can get healthy if they do get hurt, but it’s his decision.

Either way, I can’t wait to watch it.
