While the NBA isn’t full of Ohio State basketball players, there are still quite a few. They were coached by a mix of Thad Matta and Chris Holtmann. Mike Conley is the longest-tenured former Buckeye in the league having been drafted way back in 2007. The most recent Buckeye to get drafted was Malaki Branham back in 2022.

Branham was drafted in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs. They are considered a model organization. So far in Branham’s career, he has come off the bench for the majority of his appearances. He averages just 8 points per game but has shown flashes of being able to get buckets from all three levels on the floor. He certainly showed that in a game against the Lakers on Friday night.

It’s not often that a player gets a chance to dunk on LeBron James. Even though he isn’t as athletic as he once was, dunking on The King is still impressive. That’s exactly what Branham did last night when the Spurs took on the Lakers. Take a look at the clip below to see him dunk on LeBron’s head.

Branham goes up and throws it down over LeBron and it looks easy for him. He’s known as more of a mid-range scorer but he showed that he can get to the rim and finish with authority. I still think he can develop into a solid starter for this team or perhaps elsewhere. He just needs a little more playing time to show what he can do.

Still, Branham is a solid sixth man to have for San Antonio. They weren’t very good so maybe Branham gets some more playing time as the season winds to an end. If he keeps making plays like that, it will be hard to keep him off the floor.
