The Ohio State football program sent eight players to Indianapolis for the NFL Combine. Only six of them did on-field workouts. Marvin Harrison Jr. was just there for individual interviews with teams and to do his medical testing. Miyan Williams was there for the same purpose because he was still recovering from knee surgery.
That left six Buckeyes who were trying to raise their Draft stock with some workouts. There were a couple of Buckeyes who stood out in the workouts, one on each side of the ball. They might have bumped their stock up a round or two based on the numbers they tested with.
Steele Chambers highlights the Ohio State football players who increased their Draft stock
No Buckeye did more for their Draft stock than Steele Chambers. He was the best linebacker at the three-cone drill, which tests lateral quickness. That’s obviously something he’s going to need at the next level and he showed he has it. While his 40-time wasn’t super impressive, he may have pushed himself up into the fourth or fifth round with his workouts.
Cade Stover also showed his value as a tight end at the Combine. His 40-yard dash time of 4.65 showed he’s got enough athleticism to be effective at the NFL level. While his blocking still has to improve, most NFL tight ends hardly block anymore in the run game. He showed off his impressive set of hands as well.
None of the Ohio State Buckeyes who went to the Combine did anything to hurt their stock. No one bombed a workout or had a bad measurement or anything like that. That’s obviously a good thing. Now they just have to perform well at Ohio State’s Pro Day and keep interviewing well with teams before the Draft starts.
All it takes is one team to like you. That’s what each of these eight Buckeyes are hoping for in late April.
