The Ohio State football team will have its Spring Game today. That means we will get our first look at this team in a game setting. A ton of recruits will be at the game, so it’s a big recruiting weekend too. Ohio State’s coaches will be hard at work not just on the field, but talking to recruits once it’s all over.

There was some good news for the Buckeyes a couple of hours before the game kicked off. They were able to land their first recruit of the day, a four-star recruit at the tight end position. It’s a position that the Buckeyes don’t have an established starter at, so a freshman could come in next season and play right away.

Ohio State football team gets commitment from TE Nate Roberts

Nate Roberts decided to commit to the Buckeyes before they kicked off the Spring Game. He’s a four-star tight end from the state of Oklahoma. He chooses the Buckeyes over programs such as Ole Miss, Alabama, Penn State, and Notre Dame. Roberts adds to an Ohio State football recruiting class that is the second-best in the country at the moment.

Roberts was really productive in his sophomore season in 2022. He had 705 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on just 33 receptions. That’s 21.4 yards per catch. He is clearly a big-play threat, something the Buckeyes haven’t had at the tight end position in several years. That could be a big part of their offense moving forward.

Roberts surely won’t be the only recruit who decides on the Buckeyes by the time the weekend is over. Ohio State will have a lot of commitments due to the fact that they are hosting so many prospects. This could end up being one of the best recruiting weekends of the year.

Ohio State football fans should be very excited about this weekend.
