The Ohio State football program is doing recruiting work early

The Ohio State football program is trying to make up for some recruiting errors in the last few years. While they just signed a top-five class in 2024, they are going to have a lot of players to replace after this season. Previous recruiting efforts did not do a good job of addressing depth in the secondary, offensive line, or defensive line.

Ohio State is trying to change that with the 2025 recruiting class. They have done a lot of work early in this class too. They already have eight commits for the class, including two five-star defensive backs. The Buckeyes could end up with the best defensive back class in their history. That’s not the only position they’ve done some work at though.

The Ohio State football team is set for a flurry of commitments

Besides the eight commits they already have, they are predicted by 247Sports to land five more players in the top 247. Two of those are in the secondary, one is a running back, one is a tight end, and one is a defensive lineman. All are great players who would add value to the team. That’s some really good work early by this coaching staff.

Ohio State currently has the fourth-best class in the country. That number would obviously go up if they were to land all five of those players. They still have some work to do on the offensive line though. They only have one in this class so far. They need to sign at least two more to get the depth they need up front.

NIL has certainly helped the recruiting efforts. Collectives are giving the Buckeyes the firepower they need to land the best kids in the country. Winning games is also a great way to get kids on board and Ohio State is giving it their all this year. It’s national championship or bust with all of the talent they have coming back.

With the way they’ve been recruiting so far, they’re going to be in a position to keep adding major talent before Signing Day next year.
